Catherine Wedd

Catherine Wedd is a reporter for One News and has recently moved to Hawkes Bay from Wellington to have her first child. She brings with her a wealth of experience having worked for TVNZ for five years and BBC World in London.

Before joining TVNZ in 2005 Catherine worked for NewstalkZB in Wellington and Radioworks in Palmerston North.

Catherine graduated from Canterbury University with a Law degree and Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Political Science. She has also completed a post-graduate Diploma in Journalism at the Auckland University of Technology.

While reporting foreign news for the BBC, Catherine covered a wide range of world events, including the 2008 US elections and the Russia-Georgia War. At TVNZ she covered some big Hawkes Bay stories including the Napier Siege and the manhunt for Norsewood gunman, David Bourke.

 

Belinda Henley

Belinda Henley

Belinda Henley has worked as a journalist for the past
15 years. She began her career as a general reporter for 3 News, New Zealand before moving to the US to work for CBS news in Portland, Oregon as a sports and news reporter.

Since then she has done stints in Los Angeles and London working for companies like Reuters, Associated Press, BBC, CNN, Channel 7 Australia and Al Jazeera International. In 2002, off the back of Peter Jackson's remarkable Lord of the Rings trilogy she returned to
New Zealand to be the arts and entertainment correspondent for 3 News and Campbell Live, the network's nightly current affairs show.

Since then she has covered events like the Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammy Awards, attended all the major film and music festivals around the world. She has interviewed the leading names from the worlds of film, music, art, theatre and fashion, a particular highlight being the three times she has interviewed Brad Pitt!

Belinda has now relocated to Hawke's Bay where she is continuing to work for TV3 and file stories for print outlets.

 

Alisha Neilson

Alisha Neilson

Alisha is a New Zealand Broadcasting School graduate with over ten years experience in radio and television. Alisha launched her television career at Dunedin's Channel 9 News before heading to Auckland to the Radio Live newsroom in the role of sub/editor, reporter and chief reporter.

She went on to become the station's national 'drive-time' news reader with Paul Henry. After relocating to her home province of Hawkes Bay, Alisha spent three years as an announcer on More FM's Breakfast and Midday 
slots and proved very popular with her listeners.


She recently joined Television Hawkes Bay following a year's maternity leave.

 

Katherine Edmond

Katherine Edmond

Katherine Edmond has more than 25 years experience
in the media industries. During her career, she has worked in both television and radio news, as a freelance writer in the private and public sectors, a communications advisor to a wide range of organisations, and a reporter/director and presenter for television shows.

She began her career in Wellington, working for both Radio New Zealand and Television New Zealand. Katherine moved to Hawke’s Bay in the late 1980's where she continued to carry out a wide range of writing assignments and media work while bringing up three sons.

In recent years, Katherine has specialised in writing about research and development and New Zealand’s export businesses and industries. She also makes episodes of Country Calendar – the longest running series on New Zealand television and a favourite with Kiwi viewers.

Katherine joined Chatroom as a presenter in 2008 and worked regularly for the programme until she moved to Wellington at the end of 2010. She still occasionally appears in the studio on return visits to Hawke’s Bay.

Hearing people’s stories and helping them tell others in an interesting and lively way is Katherine’s passion.
