Tuning

Tuning to TVHB in the Digital TV age

USE THE DIGITAL TERRESTRIAL DECODER TO TUNE TO DIGITAL & ANALOGUE CHANNELS

Flat-screen TV's today contain a Digital Terrestrial Tuner.  To tune into a Digital Terrestrial Channel simply connect the UHF aerial to the input and press 'search'.  You may search on Digital Only or Analogue & Digital.

TVHB is still on Analogue transmission aiming to change in 2011

Television Hawke's Bay broadcasts to the region on UHF channel 51.  This signal can be found at 711.25 MHz.

The signal is transmitted from Mount Threave, near Paki Paki south of Hastings. It reaches north as far as Mahia and south to Waipawa and Waipukurau with the assistance of a signal booster.

Reception will be affected in areas situated in valleys or shadowed by physical features such as hills and tall buildings. These areas include Napier Hill, Ahuriri, parts of Taradale and parts of Havelock North. A UHF aerial will assist in providing you with a clear picture.

Consult the operating manual for your TV set or video recorder for tuning instructions specific to your model. This will tell you how to find and store new channels.

TUNE IN TO TELEVISION HAWKE'S BAY WHEN YOU HAVE SKY DIGITAL

You can plug in a terrestrial UHF aerial and your Sky dish into your system simultaneously by using a splitter box, which can be bought from any electrical goods store. Explain to the shop what you want to do and they will be able to help you. Then select a spare channel on your TV for Television Hawke's Bay and tune into our UHF frequency.
